Social Media Update
The club now has a Facebook and Instagram account to keep members informed of upcoming service events and to document our service in pictures and videos.
New Members
Please turn in your letter of character recommendation as soon as possible. There is no GPA requirement to join, but a minimum of about 50% participation in service events and meetings is expected from members.
Foreign Exchange Opportunity
The Rotary Club has extended a foreign exchange opportunity for Interact members. If you are interested, contact Mrs. Chavers for more information as soon as possible.
OCTOBER
5K Relay
There will be a 5K Relay race on the Caldwell Community College campus on October 13 from 8:00-12:00. A committee was formed to creatively advertise this event, and a sign up sheet was passed around for volunteers and runners.
End Polio Now
World Polio Day is October 24, and the club will make some kind of contribution at some point this year to Rotary's End Polio Now campaign. Sagebrush in Lenoir is hosting Rotary's campaign on October 24, and 10% of any meal price will be donated to this cause. If you have an idea for something our club can do to creatively fundraise for this cause, please contact one of the officers or Mrs. Chavers!
Creepy Caldwell 2
The festival will be held on Caldwell Community College's campus from 6:00-11:00. The children's festival will be from 6:00-8:00, and the haunted trail will run from 7:00-11:00. The club will primarily be aiding in the trunk or treat and will be a sponsor on the T-shirt. There will be a form sent through email to sign up for specific tasks at the festival, and at the actual event, there will be a sign-in for Interact to document members who attended as volunteers in some area.
Craven Early College
A fellow early college in New Bern has sent out a request for aid in the form of monetary donations and gift cards (not goods) to help their students and staff recover from Hurricane Florence. If you have a suggestion or idea for how to fundraise for this cause, please attend the officer meeting on October 4 to informally present your idea to the officers. This fundraiser may run through October and November.
NOVEMBER
Anytime Fitness Obstacle Course
Contact Vice President Kamie Chester for more information on this service event on November 10.
DECEMBER
Light Up Caldwell
The club will be decorating a Christmas tree in Lenoir, Hudson, and Granite Falls this December. No commitment is necessary to decorate yet as the date has not been announced. A committee was formed to make ornaments in the proceeding weeks to fit Lenoir's candy theme, Hudson's Christmas carol theme, and Granite's 12 days of Christmas theme.
Operation Christmas Child
If there is interest in Operation Christmas Child this year, the club will need to sign up and reserve spots ahead of time. Please let Mrs. Chavers know if you are interested in participating as there will be limited spots available.
The next meeting will be held on October 11 from 2:45 to 3:30.
