Success of Committees Last Semester
The Interact Club has won $50 for their tree in Granite Falls. The Stock-a-Stuffing event at Hudson United Methodist Church was also a success, with each child receiving a stuffed animal and a toy.
Military Care Packages
Donation boxes need to be collected and taken to Mrs. Chavers’s room to be packaged soon. The group that the packages will be sent to have been deployed from Cherry Point over Christmas, and the goal is for them to receive these boxes in February. Separate meeting dates will be set up to package these items and ship them.
Officer Elections
Officer elections will take place on Thursday, January 25 at the club’s next meeting. Be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. Chavers with more information and the form to fill out to be in the running for an officer position. If you have great ideas for the club and are willing to participate in events, consider running for a position!
Future Events
The spring semester holds many opportunities for the club, and several original ideas for service were suggested at the meeting. Be on the lookout for a Google Form from Mrs. Chavers to vote on which ideas the club you believe the club will have the most time, resources, and passion to complete in the coming months.
Relay for Life will be held at American Legion Fairground in Hickory this year, with Caldwell and Catawba County combining their events to form the biggest Relay for Life in North Carolina. This event will be held on the night of Friday, June 1 and will continue through Saturday, June 2.
Cycle to Serve, in which the club provides volunteers to pass out water and snacks to bikers in the Lenoir Bike Race, will be held on Saturday, May 12 this year.
